Precision Tool

Nail Mat

Dipping Cups

Alcohol

Pure Acetone

Does dip powder require a UV/LED lamp?

No, our Glam Kit and traditional Dip Liquid Set does not require a UV/LED lamp to dry the dip powder.

How long does it last?

With proper prep and application our dip powder system can last from 3-5 weeks.

Is it hard to do dip powder nails at home?

No! A DIY dip powder manicure is pretty easy. Having a good starter kit makes things even easier. While it may take a few attempts for you to get the hang of which techniques work best for you, the process itself is pretty painless.

Can I apply dip powder to my natural nail?

Yes, you can apply it to your natural nail. Most people use this method of application. You can also apply dip powder on top of nail tips or other nail enhancements.

Is DIY dip powder bad for your nails?

The dip powder you get in our DIY kit is the same type of powder a nail tech would use. It is not made with anything that will damage your nails. However, picking or scratching off dip powder will leave your nails damaged and weak. It will take weeks to build them back up. Instead, you’ll want to take the time to soak off the dip powder properly.

How do I apply and remove?

You can read detailed application and removal instructions here.

Why is my Glue or Gloss brush hardening?

If you are having trouble with the brush hardening, there are two possible causes:

  1. If the Glue comes in contact with excess dip powder it can cause the brush to harden. It is important that you are wiping off any excess powder in between the layers of Glue and dipping the nail into your powder. We offer lint free nail wipes that are great for this.
  2. The Activate is not completely dry when you move on to the Gloss. You need to wait longer (the recommended 1-2 minutes) after the second coat of Activate to apply the Gloss. Activate and Gloss work together chemically to give the hard finish on your nails. The same thing happens to your brush. If the Activate on your nails is not completely dry, contact with your Gloss brush will react chemically to harden it. It is recommended that you wipe your brush off gently with a clean lint free nail wipe in between the Gloss application for each nail to further prevent hardening.

Why am I experiencing lifting?

The two most common reasons for nail lifting:

  1. Lifting is caused by improper nail prep. Ensure you’ve pushed back and removed all excess cuticles, gently buffed the shine from your nail beds, and cleansed the nail of any debris using a lint free cloth with isopropyl alcohol or pure acetone before applying your first layer of Glue and powder.
  2. Improper application is another culprit for lifting. Avoid applying the Glue + Dip Powder, or Gloss too closely to your skin. Our Precision Tool is a helpful tool for maintaining a clean cuticle area, which will help further prevent lifting.

Why does my dip powder look lumpy?

Lumpiness is caused from applying too much Glue (dip base coat) to the nail. When applying the Glue, wipe off one side of your brush completely (or both sides when using a full bottle) removing most of the liquid from the brush. A small amount goes a long way. How your dip powder appears directly after dipping into the jar is a good way to gauge if you are applying too much Glue. Does it appear wet? Did it lump up, pushing the dip powder around? If so, next time try wiping more product off of the brush. With the right amount of Glue your dip layers will apply even and appear dry after dipping into the jar.

Why is my dip manicure chipping after a few days?

Chipping or fine cracks in your dip manicure are almost always caused by not applying enough layers of dip powder. We recommend starting with a clear dip as your first dip followed by 3-4 dips of your selected dip color. We also recommend using clear dip powder as your final dip layer. Adjust the layers (more or less) as needed.

It could also be a result of not using enough Activate to solidify the dip powder throughout the dipping process.

Why does my Gloss appear matte or streaky?

Make sure you apply a very generous amount of Activate to your nails, dipping the brush back into the bottle once or even twice before moving on to the next nail. Getting Activate on the skin will not damage the skin.

After the second coat of Activate is applied, let it dry for 1-2 minutes before you apply the first coat of Gloss. The first coat of Gloss needs to be applied quickly, in 2-3 quick strokes. The second coat can be applied with more attention to detail.

What is "Dip Flu"?

"Dip Flu” is a reaction to dip base coat (Glue) and/or dip top coat (Gloss) in a Dip Liquid Set. Although all dip systems on the market use the same chemistry, different formula ratios can cause different reactions for each individual. The reaction typically includes cold like symptoms (sneezing, coughing, congestion, or headaches) during or after dipping your nails — not everyone will experience these symptoms.

Are your liquids odorless?

No, they are not odorless. They are advertised as low odor, but sensitivity will vary based on the individual.

Is your dip powder system HEMA free?

Yes, both our Dip Liquid Set and Dip + Gel Liquid Set are HEMA free. We also offer HEMA free builder gels.

What are the dip powder base ingredients?

Polymethyl Methacrylate, Polyethyl Methacrylate, Polybutyl Methacrylate. Dipping powders may also contain Benzoyl Peroxide, Polyester Glitters, Foils And Pigments.

What is the shelf life?

Unopened liquids are formulated and tested for a shelf life of 1 - 3 years under normal storage conditions, depending on the product's composition, preservation, and other factors. If stored correctly (cool, dark, and dry), the dip powders should last indefinitely. If stored improperly they may fade and change over time.
